I am Ahab
THE OLD THUNDER!!
Encontre esta foto hoy en una camara digital, es mi primera tentativa de pintar a mano despues de unos cuantos anyos de fidelidad absoluta al photoshop. Lo hice este verano despues de leer Moby Dick, un buen libro, denso de cojones pero disfrutable. Hice una segunda mas complicada, con un par de personajes, pero no me gusto y me encargue personalmente de destruirla. Asi que de momento, la cosa se queda en un retrato de Ahab con evidente parecido al clasico de Gregory Peck y un poco de Abraham Lincoln.

The AQUABATS! BGS1
ONE OF THE FIRST BGS I PAINTED FOR THE AQUABATS
THE AQUABATS SUPERSHOW

PARA VER LA ANIMACION, VE DIRECTAMENTE A 14:00
Here's one of the projects I've been working on for the last months, The Aquabats Supershow cartoon series, with the Irish company CartoonSaloon. My job was to draw all the bgs for the 13 episodes,and paint some of them. I never worked before in a TV serie, so when I started, my first question was:
- OK, here we go, how many bgs do we have to produce?-
- Hmmmm 3, more or less-
- Great, great, 3 bgs a week...-
- No no, 3 bgs A DAY-
- Ouch!!-
So it was a challenge to find a quick way to do the bgs. Though it was a bit tough at the beginning, in a pair of weeks I started to have lots of fun with it. It was great to have the chance to work in the Background Squadron with such talents as Lily, Alice and my old compadre Alfonso aka The Fonze.

Aqui esta uno de los proyectos en los que he estado trabajando en los ultimos meses, la serie animada de The Aquabats Supershow, con la compania irlandesa CartoonSaloon. Mi trabajo fue dibujar todos los fondos de los 13 capitulos, y pintar algunos de ellos. Nunca antes habia trabajado de forma fija en una serie de animacion, asi que cuando empece mi primera pregunta fue:
- Hmmmm 3, mas o menos-
- Bien, bien, 3 fondos por semana...-
- No no, 3 fondos AL DIA-
- Ouch!!-
Asi que fue un reto lograr una forma rapida de acabar con ello. Aunque las pase un poco putas al principio, en un par de semanas empezo a ser divertido. Fue un placer currar en el Escuadron de Fondos con talentos como Lily, Alice, y mi viejo amigo Alfonso aka The Fonze.

Manyana empiezo un curro con Flash, y no tengo ni punyetera idea de como funciona el programa, asi que he estado probando un poco y acostumbrandome al trazo vectorial, y pensaba que seria mucho peor. Para no aburrirme hice bastantes retratos de personajes, y esto es lo mas pasable que ha salido, despues de un no del todo convincente Paulie y dejando de lado muchos Corrados y algun Phil Leotardo que se han quedado en el escritorio. Como cuesta simplificar.
Tomorrow I'm starting a new job with Flash, and I have no clue about how this program works, so I've been practicing a bit to get used to the vector thing. It could be worst! So I've been doing a few Sopranos charicatures and portraits, here are some of the sketches I saved from the trash bin.
